The projector Garbo by Philips operates as a LED-LCD device with 1000 ANSI lumens, a WVGA 858 x 484 resolution and a contrast of 400:1. The manufacturer lists the lamp life at 6000 hours, achieving a lifespan of 8.2 years when used for 2 hours a day. Looking at practical performance, up to 321 cm can be illuminated with 1000 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 214 cm. With a value of only 27 decibels, the noise level during operation remains pleasantly in the background. This model dates back to 2002 and is no longer part of Philips's current product range.
I was also stupid enough to buy the Garbo back then. The picture was not so great from the beginning, yellowish tint in the white reproduction, 1140 hours run, then exchanged because the picture was no longer reasonable, much too dark. I also bought the device because of the alleged 6000 hours, then had a Nec VT 47, where the lamp delivered good pictures up to 2500 hours, now it has also been replaced, E-Machines V 700 it has run 57 hours so far, let‘s see how long it is good there (the lamp) in any case, the lamp costs only about 145.-€ so you can live well with it. Not 500.-€ like the fucking Garbo !!!!!

Shit Beamer
The lamp only provided me with reasonably usable images for 1200 hours. After that it was so dark that it was pointless to watch a movie with it.
All in all, device was too expensive and bad, lamp much too expensive, device thrown away.

Bad deal
Although my lamp has lasted almost 2500 hours, it is still very disappointing.
The Garbo is unfortunately really one of the worst I have used.
The Felini proves that it used to be different, very very loud but already "survived" 3700 hours of the specified 4000 hours.

When the lamp on my projector broke (also well before the 6000 hours), I first contacted the Philips service department, where I had to deal with a very poor German-speaking employee twice; I was asked for all possible details (address, cell phone number, e-mail), then I was promised help. In return, I receive regular advertising e-mails from Philips, which I can no longer unsubscribe from!!!
I am very satisfied with the projector in and of itself
But I doubt that I will buy a Philips device again

Lamp misery
My lamp has also given up the ghost after 1300 hours. Has anyone already found a cheap source for a new lamp? I won‘t spend 500 euros on a new one. Then I‘d rather scrap the thing.

Ever wonder why you cant buy it anymore?
Ive read the other reviews here and I can only agree. My lamp lasted about 3500 hours. However, you cant expect goodwill from Philips. The projector was only on the market for a very short time, and I can imagine why. With a promised lifespan of 6000 hours, they probably leaned a little too far out on a limb.

A case for consumer protection
In my case, the first lamp burst after 1230 hours, the second after just under 1000. The alleged 6000 hours service life is pure fraud in my eyes! For me and many others, this was the deciding factor in my purchase. Philips knew for sure that the bulbs would never last that long, not even at the North Pole!

Lamp life :(
I bought the device 3 years ago because at the time it was offered as the quietest device with a lamp life of 600 hours. But unfortunately, the lamp didn‘t last 2000 hours for me either. Now I‘m stuck with a lamp repair costing around €500. I am disappointed with the service from Philips. The production of home projectors has been discontinued for several years now and the only thing left for me to do is to take the 500€ in my hand to buy a new lamp. I wouldn‘t buy the Philips again, especially as the device isn‘t even HD ready.

Disappointed
Have owned the Garbo for about 2.5 years. I bought the projector because of the low running costs. Unfortunately, my bargain became expensive after just under 900 hours, because a new lamp was due, and I have to say that the Garbo‘s picture doesn‘t convince me. It has big problems with white. It was a hasty purchase as I got the projector cheaply and unfortunately had no experience in this area.

How long do the lamps really last?
I know some users whose lamps didn‘t break after 6000h but already after 1000h despite good treatment. Maybe you‘re lucky sometimes, but I don‘t think you should put too much stock in the 6000 hours.
