With the VPL SW631, Sony offers a LCD projector that features 3300 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 3000:1 and a resolution of WXGA 1280 x 800. The manufacturer lists the lamp life at 4000 hours, which amounts to roughly 5.5 years at 2 hours of daily use. For distortion-free image alignment, the projector offers both a lens shift function and keystone correction. The amount of leeway the lens provides can be checked in the Projection Calculator. The short-throw capabilities allow for large images at a short projection distance. According to specifications, a 2-meter wide image requires a distance of only 53 cm. A look at the light output reveals: The 3300 ANSI lumens are sufficient to illuminate an image width of up to 584 cm in darkened rooms. If room light is present, we recommend not exceeding a maximum width of 389 cm. For integration into professional environments, an RJ45 connection is available for network control and remote maintenance. Equipped with a microphone jack and built-in speakers (16W), audio signals during presentations can be played back directly without an external audio system. The projector was released in 2016 and is officially no longer distributed by Sony. As an archive device, the projector remains highly relevant in our database.
