Model Overview

The VPL-VW995ES model from Sony combines SXRD technology in the Homecinema sector with 2200 ANSI lumens and a native UHD (4K+2K) 4096 x 2160 resolution. With its built-in laser light source, the projector achieves a manufacturer-stated lifespan of 20000 hours – equivalent to a usable life of 13.7 years at 4 hours a day.
An integrated lens shift provides significant leeway for placement. The lens can be adjusted to precisely align the image even with off-center installations. The specifications identify the device as a model with an interchangeable lens option. Matching optional optics allow for exact adaptation to the required image size and projection distance, which can be calculated directly with the Distance Calculator.
Looking at practical performance, up to 321 cm can be illuminated with 2200 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 214 cm.
In terms of video signals, the device processes resolutions up to Full HD 1080P and 4K as well as 3D, meaning standard Blu-ray formats are processed effortlessly. The model is perfectly equipped for complex installations: In addition to the RJ45 jack for network administration, an HDBaseT port is available, transporting high-resolution AV signals over a single Cat cable.
Regarding noise emissions, the model proves to be exceptionally quiet during operation, producing just 24 decibels. The projector was released in 2018 and is officially no longer distributed by Sony.
