The projector VPL VW500ES by Sony utilizes SXRD technology and, according to the spec sheet, achieves 1700 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 200000:1 at a resolution of UHD (4K+2K) 4096 x 2160. The presence of a lens shift function enables flexible vertical or horizontal positioning of the projector. The achievable distances are shown in the Projection Calculator. Regarding projection size, the value of 1700 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 305 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 203 cm. Regarding signal processing, the model is compatible with incoming 1080P content and 4K as well as 3D, meaning standard Blu-ray formats are processed effortlessly. For integration into professional environments, an RJ45 connection is available for network control and remote maintenance. Regarding noise emissions, the model proves to be exceptionally quiet during operation, producing just 26 decibels. The projector was released in 2013 and is officially no longer distributed by Sony. HD sources are once again greatly enhanced with Reality Creation, the difference to 4k is smaller than you might think. The menu and operating instructions are also easy to understand and it‘s easy to find your way around. There is nothing to complain about. The 3D has also been revised again with software version 1.006 and is also second to none, with zero ghosting. For me as a filmmaker and cineaste, the projector is worth every penny, and there are quite a few of them
