Based on DLP technology, the Viewsonic Pro8500 projects images in a Standard-Portabel environment, with technical specs listing 5000 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 4900:1 and a XGA 1024 x 768 resolution. According to Viewsonic, the included lamp lasts up to 4000 hours – mathematically sufficient for 5.5 years based on two hours of use per day. Regarding projection size, the value of 5000 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 616 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 411 cm. Regarding signal processing, the model is compatible with incoming 1080P content. Also on board is a local media player that allows reading and playing content directly from storage media. For integration into professional environments, an RJ45 connection is available for network control and remote maintenance. Since entering the market in 2010, production has been discontinued; the manufacturer no longer actively offers the model.
