As a projector, the Epson USA MovieMate 85HD combines LCD technology with a resolution of WXGA 1280 x 800, and is additionally specified with 2500 ANSI lumens and a contrast of 3000:1. The manufacturer lists the lamp life at 3000 hours. A look at the light output reveals: The 2500 ANSI lumens are sufficient to illuminate an image width of up to 508 cm in darkened rooms. If room light is present, we recommend not exceeding a maximum width of 339 cm. In terms of video signals, the device processes resolutions up to Full HD 1080P. As an additional feature, an integrated media player enables the direct playback of files without an external source device. In the specifications, the operating noise is listed at a mere 29 decibels, indicating very quiet cooling. Since entering the market in 2009, production has been discontinued; the manufacturer no longer actively offers the model.
