Behind the name VT59 is a Laser-LCD projector by Nec, whose main features include 1600 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 600:1 and a XGA 1024 x 768 resolution. The manufacturer rates the durability of the included lamp at 3000 hours. Regarding projection size, the value of 1600 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 348 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 232 cm. The projector was released in 2007 and is officially no longer distributed by Nec.

the initial enthusiasm gave way to great frustration!
hello again. i‘ve experienced a lot with my nec vt 59 since 20.03.2008...not only pleasant things.
after 10 hours the projector started to magically attract dust and went back for cleaning, fortunately on goodwill (not from nec!!), but from the partner company relos - merci). after almost 11 months and only 90 hours, the lamp suddenly broke - warranty period exceeded by one month and so i had to pay for the new lamp myself. now it has only 55 hours down again and lo and behold, dust is already back in the housing and forms unsightly stains on the screen. maybe i‘m unlucky with my model, but apparently these problems are more common with the nec vt models.
now you have to clean it yourself, send it to a cleaning service for a fee or ignore the glare spots as best you can...too bad, the picture is otherwise great, but the dust problem is still driving me crazy!!!
I hereby withdraw my recommendation to buy ;o( unless you live in a sterile home, like to tinker and clean, or have strong nerves ;o)
p.s.: my projector is packed away in a dust-free cupboard when not in use...

So I‘ve now got 47% behind me
So I bought the Nec Vt59 in January this year because I did some research beforehand and it‘s the only one that comes close to many others with its data.
After this time I have to say that I am completely satisfied I use the projector as an LCD replacement I sold my 107cm plasma and built a stationary screen the picture is still bombastic only the brightness now drops a little after 47% running time but that is to get over because I drive brightness with 20/100 and also run in Eco mode the Wii console the DVD and my Sat Reciver offer a great picture.
From me there is a 100% rating because this device keeps up with many big ones for such a price and is easy to clean and quiet.
so my absolute purchase recommendation.

hello!
have had the nec vt59 since yesterday and immediately put it to the test.
right up front, the projector is brilliant! really unbeatable for this price. i currently have it on eco with brightness 35 / 100 and contrast 65 / 100 and that‘s more than enough. the reserves in brightness are amazing even in eco mode! anyway, you see almost no difference between eco and normal mode.
the menu is easy to use, the color adjustments for different wall colors are nice, but i personally don‘t need them.
despite only having a vga connection, the nec produces a razor-sharp picture on the pc! even with diagonals of almost 3 meters!
even the connection of the xbox360 via vga is amazing. racing games, sports games...a whole new dimension! any doubters should know: even a projector via hdmi only produces marginally better pictures on the screen!!!
interpolated resolutions are displayed perfectly by the nec, movies via dvd are a dream. the only thing i haven‘t connected yet is a digi-sat receiver...but i expect only good things.
clearly, the black level is not as good as with a dlp projector, but there is no rainbow effect and there are no streaks or trailing. mind you, the black level in the picture is really good, only the 16:9 bars look a bit grayish. but you also have that with the panasonic pt-ax 200 or an epson emp tw 700, even if they are not as high there. (there are always a few bars with 16:9) as with all lcd projectors, you can see a raster, but only if you stand directly in front of the screen, so don‘t worry!
for me, the nec vt59 is a stunner! if you don‘t need hdmi and can live with the 16:9 bars, you have to go for it!

Price-performance unbeatable!
Servus Leutz!
I decided on the VT59 because it has a better resolution than the VT49 and is now unbeatably cheap. I saw a Sony AW10 at M;M and it was hardly any better than the NEC, but a lot more expensive. I can also do without the HD input. I use it via YUV and always have a great picture. The black level is also ok. Anyone who calls it gray should see an eye doctor!

I can only agree with the previous speakers. A great projector with an unbeatable price/performance ratio. The only thing you have to do without is an HD connection, but I‘m fine with that.

The NEC VT59 is an awesome device, it‘s not just a projector, it‘s like a cumpel. I‘m good with technology. Actually, I always have to read the operating instructions beforehand, which I didn‘t do this time.
